Autodesk's AutoSketch software is a computer-aided design program that allows you to create detailed two-dimensional technical drawings and illustrations for use in a variety of fields. The program uses its own SDK format for saving files, but it can also handle files used by the software's more powerful cousin, AutoCAD. There's no way to import a PDF file directly into AutoDesk, but several converters are available that can convert PDF files into an AutoCAD format usable by AutoSketch.
1.
Download a program that will convert PDF files to AutoCAD files using the DWF, DWG or DXF formats. Software that can handle this task includes Able2Extract PDF Converter, VeryPDF's PDF to DXF Converter, Aide CAD System's PDF to DFX Converter and AnyDWG's Any PDF to DWG Converter. (See links in Resources.) These companies allow you to try out their software before buying it.
3.
Select the PDF file you want to convert. Generally you will use the 'Add PDF File' button or something similar to select the file. Once selected, the file name will be displayed in a list. You can add more files to the list if you wish to convert several documents at once. If you are using the Able2Extract PDF Converter, you must select 'Convert in Batch Conversion Mode' from the 'File' menu to access the batch conversion screen.
4.
Select DWF, DWG or DXF as the output format for the file.
6.
Set any special options for the output file. Your output options will vary according to the program you are using, but they may include choices such as text-to-graphics conversion, color layering and page rotation.
7.
Click 'Convert' or 'Convert Files' to complete the conversion.
Open the AutoSketch program and select the 'Open' tab. Click 'Browse' and then navigate to the folder containing the AutoCAD file created in the previous step. Select the file and click 'OK.'
9.
Save the file in AutoSketch's native SDK format.
